Jin Young Kim is a Ph.D. candidate in Molecular and Cell Biology at University of California, Berkeley, where she developed a novel CRISPRi-based method using RNA barcodes to investigate genetic regulators of human genes and mRNAs. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from Rice University, where she conducted research in synthetic biology, engineering proteins, and developing biological sensors. Jin Young has also contributed to projects in microbiology, cancer biology, and structural biology as a visiting researcher and National Science Foundation (NSF) fellow at institutions including Northwestern University, Baylor College of Medicine, and the University of Michigan, building a broad foundation of expertise across diverse areas of biology.
Since 2021, Jin Young has applied her scientific and analytical skills as a strategy consultant for organizations such as Biotech Connection Bay Area, Evexia Biofund, and Berkeley Innovative Solutions. She has worked with early-stage biopharma companies in areas such as cancer immunotherapy, neurodegenerative diseases, drug delivery, synthetic biology, and sustainable skincare, focusing on challenges like indication prioritization, go-to-market strategy, product-market fit evaluation, and scientific and financial due diligence.
As a Research Associate at Atoll Financial Group, Jin Young works with the Biotech and Life Sciences team to identify promising technologies and provide scientific and strategic guidance to the banking team when developing investment theses for clients.
